Martin Lodge

Martin Lodge (b.1954) studied music with Douglas Lilburn, David Farquhar and Ross Harris at Victoria University of Wellington. He held the Mozart Fellowship composer residency at Otago University in 1990 and 1991 and in 1993 he was Composer-in-Residence with the Auckland Philharmonia, for whom he wrote his Symphony no.1 Flowers of the Sea. He has been president of the Composers Association of New Zealand, and publishes and broadcasts regularly on New Zealand music and other topics. Currently he is Chair of the Music Department at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, where he teaches composition and music history.
