Bridget Douglas is Principal Flute of the NZSO and Artist Teacher in Flute at Victoria University of Wellington. Dunedin born, Bridget completed a B.Sc. in Microbiology at Otago University before going on to study flute at Victoria University with Alexa Still. Upon completion of a B.Mus. and with the assistance of a Fulbright Scholarship, Creative NZ grant, PEO International Peace Scholarship and Alex Lindsay Memorial Award, she did an M.Mus. at the State University of New York at Stony Brook with Samuel Baron. She was Principal Flute with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago for their 1996-97 season.
While in America, Bridget won several competitions, including the New York Flute Club Young Artists Competition and the Artists International Award, resulting in a debut recital at Carnegie Hall.
Bridget performs regularly with leading New Zealand musicians in solo and chamber music concerts throughout the country. She is actively involved in the performance of new music and is a founding member of the contemporary music ensemble, Stroma. Bridget is a national recording artist for Concert FM.

Rachel Thomson was born in Dunedin, but grew up in Wellington where she began her piano studies with her mother. She went on to study with Judith Clark, graduating from Victoria University with a B.Mus (Hons) in 1991, and a B.A. in English Literature in 1993. With assistance from Fulbright and the QEII Arts Council she continued her studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music in the United States, where she gained a Doctorate in piano performance. She has won various awards and competitions at home and in the US, including the New Zealand Concerto Competition (1993) and the MTNA Collegiate Piano Competition (East Central Division USA, 1997).
Since her return to New Zealand in 1997, Rachel has performed with some of the countrys leading musicians. She has toured for Chamber Music New Zealand and is a national recording artist for Concert FM. She is a member of the chamber ensemble Ethos and is a tutor at the Victoria Academy, as well as occasionally working as pianist for the NZSO.
