The recent recording of chamber music by John Psathas, Fragments, released by Trust Records, was awarded Best Classical Album at the 2004 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.
Psathas received the award from the New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark (who is also Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage).
The recording features virtuoso pianist Stephen Gosling, percussionist Jeremy Fitzsimons and the New Zealand String Quartet.
The other finalists in the Best Classical Album category were the New Zealand String Quartet for their recording of works by Szekely and Dvorak, and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra for their CD of David Farquhars Three Symphonies, also released by Trust Records.
